Universe For Beginners

Universe For Beginners brings together photographs, paintings, and drawings created between 2019 and 2023 which in various ways touch on the subject of code, selforganisation, information and communication.

Drawing from both, natural and virtual environments, I capture variety of forms and patterns that appeal to me through their esthetical qualities or intriguing, unique forms. Quite many of them are based on various visual representations of the binary code which attracted me with their striking geometric beauty. Binary code has an essential role not only in the development of information technologies (virtual world) but, what’s much more exciting, the evolution of life in general. Some scientists even suggest that BIT (binary digit with 0 and 1 states) is an “elementary particle of the Universe”*, its “unit of life”**.

The patterns and codes captured using various photographic methods (a combination of analog and digital) are accompanied by abstract writing on canvas and paper generated by myself. I use the word “generated’ intentionally as the process of making them is devoid of conscious creative decisions. They happen in an automated and involuntary way which I explain as being a result of my lifelong observations of structures in nature, and attraction to variety of abstract and virtual pattens.
